Location: Home-based with travel throughout England and Wales
Salary: £93,042 to £99,168 plus a market factor of £7,000 per annum

The job in a nutshell
As Training Captain at NPAS, you’ll be at the heart of our Approved Training Organisation, helping shape the future of police aviation. You’ll deliver high-quality flight training and regulatory checks, ensuring our pilots, Tactical Flight Officers, and Operations Centre staff meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
This is a home-based role with national travel, offering a unique opportunity to influence operational excellence across England and Wales.
What you’ll be doing
- Conducting flight training and regulatory examination checks in line with CAA standards
- Delivering training to pilots, Tactical Flight Officers, and Operations Centre staff
- Assuring consistency in Flight Examination checks
- Supporting the development of training materials and continuous improvement
- Managing performance and supporting staff development
- Promoting NPAS values and the Police Code of Ethics
What we’re looking for
- Valid UK Part-FCL Commercial Pilots Licence with single-pilot instrument, multi-engine helicopter and TRI(H) ratings
- UK Class 1 medical for single-pilot passenger operations
- Valid TRE(H) Licensing Certificate for multi-engine, single-pilot helicopters
- Minimum 2,000 flying hours (including 1,000 hours as pilot-in-command overland)
- Experience in low-level and night flying
- Proven delivery of flight crew training in a matrix environment
- EC135 type rating and 30+ hours NVIS flight time (desirable)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly outside normal hours
