The UH-1N Special Mission Aviator will provide formal aircrew academic and simulator flight training for initial qualification, mission qualification, requalification, instructor upgrade, and key staff students to conduct combat search and rescue missions.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Provide instruction, including surge, to meet USAF proficiency and qualification standards on Air Force-administered written examinations and flight evaluations for preparatory courses, initial qualification (basic, instrument, mission), transition (conversion, requalification), upgrade qualification (instructor, aircraft commander, special mission), and key staff, continuation and refresher course training as required to accomplish the On-Time Graduation and annual Student Throughput requirements of this contract.
- Complete syllabus tasks within the time specified for the lesson.

Requirements
- Must have an Associateβs Degree from a regionally accredited college
- Must be current in U.S. military aircraft within the previous two years; or within the previous 8 years if the candidate has performed 8 years of military operational flying duty at the time of hire and with at least two years or 200 hours experience as an in-flight instructor in the respective MDS and associated mission sets. These requirements may be waived on a case-by-case basis.
- Must meet the minimum hour requirements for instructor upgrade as defined in the applicable AFI 11-2, MDS Volume 1.
- The selected candidate must be able to obtain a minimum of an active SECRET clearance and will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including US Citizenship, for access to classified information and Communications Security (COMSEC) material.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Operational flight experience within 3 years as an instructor on the applicable system or performance of similar aircraft simulator instructor duties within 3 years
- 2000+ hours in the UH-1N
- 100+ hours of NVG time
- 500+ hours of instructor time
- Academic Instructor School graduate
