Based in NE Essex, Air Rescue Training and Simulation (ARTS) is an established and respected name in the aviation training and operations industry.



The ARTS Technical Crew Academy provides a complete solution for technical crew training and assessment across a wide variety of operations worldwide. As a result of our continued success and expansion we are recruiting an experienced Learning and Development professional with experience in an aviation environment.



The role



Reporting to the Head of Training, this role will allow the successful applicant to use their experience and knowledge to recruit, train and develop technical crew for roles within the aviation sector, including Search & Rescue, HEMS and Police as well as other civilian and military operations.



Joining a team of experienced aviation professionals, this is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the training and development of crew members for demanding and safety critical operations worldwide.



Key responsibilities



· Delivery of Bespoke Customer Focussed Training Programs: Assist in the development and delivery of training programs tailored to the needs of our customers and their staff.


· Training Needs Analysis: Assess individual training needs and identify learning gaps to customise training programs. Assist in TNAs for specific operations, customers and their staff.


· Performance Assessment: Conduct formative and summative assessments against required standards, including safety and human factors.


· Mentoring and Development: Provide coaching and mentorship to support and develop learners, assisting them to attain the standards required for competence.


· Simulator Training: Use and operate simulator(s) as part of a training program. Specific training will be provided.


· Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all learning and development undertaken complies with the ARTS Training Quality & Standards Manual and is recorded/evidenced. Where required, assist in ensuring that training programs comply with relevant operational and regulatory standards.


· Continuous Improvement: Review, assess and revise existing training programs and materials to ensure they remain current with best practice in Learning & Development.


· Customer Interaction: Work closely with customers and their staff to discuss their needs and promote ARTS and its training programs.



Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills



· Recognised qualification in Learning & Development.


· Demonstrable practical experience of Learning & Development within the aviation sector, including both training and assessment (minimum two years).


· Knowledge of Crew Resource Management and Human Factors in Aviation.


· Recent experience coaching and mentoring learners.


· Strong communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels, including where English is not a first language.


· Strong IT skills with an ability to learn new systems and software.



Desirable Experience, Qualifications & Skills



· Time as a crew member in a flying role.


· Previous experience of assessment relating to Crew Resource Management and Human Factors in Aviation.


· Use of simulation and/or VR simulation as a method of training delivery.


· Knowledge and use of an LMS/LCMS.


· Understanding or knowledge of aviation regulation, training compliance and standards relating to technical crew roles.


· Knowledge of Bohemia Interactive VBS.


· Knowledge of a second or secondary languages may be beneficial.

Job Specifics



· Full time


· Nominal working week, Monday to Friday, with a requirement for flexibility to accommodate business and customer needs, including travel.


· Based in NE Essex (travel and accommodation negotiable for the right candidate)


· Travel in the UK and overseas


· Attendance at Trade Shows where required


· Salary : TBC
