POSITION SUMMARY

The PIC is responsible for the safe operation of company aircraft in support of a Helicopter Air Ambulance transporting medical crews and patients to assigned regional hospitals. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all company policies, General Operations Manual, Airman Information Manual, as well as Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to part 135 Helicopter Air Ambulance Operations.

  • Operate aircraft in compliance with all safety and legal requirements, performs duties as the individual ultimately responsible for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
  • Completes all required pre-flight duties including verifying airworthiness, completing all pre-flight checks, daily logs, and sign offs.
  • Maintains current and thorough knowledge of all aircraft and medical systems including backup aircraft and provides guidance to the medical flight team on the medical interior and systems.
  • Completes all required documentation and conducts detailed flight planning to meet required standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree from college or technical school with 2+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Previous HAA experience within the past 24 months is required (commercial or military).
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong decision making with ability to exercise independent judgment within company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Second Class Medical (First Class Preferred).
  • Commercial and Instrument Helicopter Ratings (Helicopter ATP Preferred).
  • Must reside within 1 hour drive of the assigned base.
  • Due to safety requirements, individuals in this position are required to maintain a body weight not exceeding 250 pounds and must be less than 70 years of age. Must be able to pass all company and FAA required drug/alcohol and background screenings

FLIGHT TIME REQUIREMENTS

  • 2,500 Total Time
  • 2,000 Hours Helicopter
  • 1,500 hours PIC Helicopter
  • 1,000 hours Turbine Helicopter
  • 200 hours Unaided Night or 50 hours Unaided + 100 hours Night Vision Goggle (NVG)
  • 75 hours instrument (actual or simulated)
