The role
As a Barton Base Pilot, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO), a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police, sectors.  BMCSO provides world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.



Day to day, you’ll Support HEMS operating the helicopter. 


  • Fly for the North West Air Ambulance charity.
  • Health and safety responsibilities and strong understanding of required Aviation regulations.
  • Experience of night tasking.


This role is full time, 42 hours per week with a 4 day in 4 day off roster and is based at the Barton base, Eccles, Greater Manchester. You will be required to reside within 25 nautical miles or 45 minutes. 



Essential experience of the Barton Base Pilot:


  • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; OR
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.


Qualifications for the Barton Base Pilot:


  • Hold an UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR
  • Full UK Aviation class 1 medical


Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
