Alpine Helicopters is accepting resumes from qualified Pilots for the full-time Assistant Chief Pilot position.

The Assistant Chief Pilot supports the Chief Pilot in managing the flight department’s operations. This includes supervising flight personnel, coordinating and implementing pilot training, maintaining compliance with aviation regulations, and promoting a safety culture. The role also involves maintaining pilot records, developing emergency response procedures, and acting as the Chief Pilot’s delegate when required. The position would be preferably located at Alpine’s West Kelowna base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and implement pilot training by organizing and managing training schedules, including initial and recurrent training, and ensuring training needs are met.
  • Maintain compliance and records by ensuring all flight crew personnel are qualified, compliant, and current according to Transport Canada regulations, and maintain accurate pilot records.
  • Promote safety by ensuring flight operations adhere to the highest safety standards, address safety concerns, and develop emergency response procedures.
  • Assist the Chief Pilot with administration and records management, including writing and updating training manuals and conducting regular audits of pilot records.
  • Maintain proficiency as Pilot-in-Command and perform flight duties as needed based on scheduling needs and crew capacity.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Transport Canada’s regulations.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire team members, delegate tasks, and provide guidance and direction.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for effectively liaising with flight personnel, other departments within the company, regulatory authorities, and external stakeholders.
  • Openness, adaptive, flexible to change.
  • Organizing and planning skills.
  • Technical proficiency.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1, medical certificate.
  • Canadian Commercial Pilot License Helicopter, with relevant endorsements:
    • INTERMEDIATE: Bell 206L3, 407 and/ or AS350 endorsement with 2,000 hours on type
    • MEDIUM: Bell 212 and/ or Bell 412 endorsement with 2,000 hours on type
  • 5,000 hours of total flight experience as Pilot in Command, accident-free.
  • Approved Mountain Course.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of heli-skiing, external load and firefighting operations.
  • Transport Canada’s Approved Check Pilot designation, or, ability to complete within six months of employment.
  • Provide an acceptable drivers abstract.

The following education and/or experiences are considered an asset:

  • IFR, NVFR, NVG experience.
  • Experience using CIRRO software and/or Areo Studies web platforms.
  • Past management experience in the field of aviation.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a confirmed negative Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test.
