Part 145 Lead Technician

Compensation: $33.00–$45.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Travel Required: Travel as needed for training, customer support, off-site maintenance activities, aircraft recovery, and other business-related purposes.
Position Summary
The Part 145 Lead Technician is responsible for leading the maintenance, inspection, repair, and return-to-service activities for customer aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer instructions, and company procedures. This individual serves as the principal aircraft mechanic responsible for the day-to-day execution of maintenance tasks, providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to maintenance personnel while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This position reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and perform maintenance, inspections, repairs, alterations, and preventive maintenance on rotor-wing aircraft and related components.
- Direct maintenance activities involving aircraft, engines, powerplants, flight systems, parts, and assemblies requiring repair or overhaul.
- Ensure compliance with FAA Part 145 Repair Station regulations, company policies, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate aircraft material requirements with the Parts Department to ensure all required parts, tooling, and bill of materials are available to support maintenance activities.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior technicians and mechanics.
- Review maintenance work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with approved technical data before release.
- Perform and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, component replacement, and system testing.
- Assign work, establish priorities, monitor workflow, and ensure maintenance projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with FAA requirements and company procedures.
- Maintain current technical publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives (ADs), and other FAA-approved technical data.
- Ensure all shop equipment, tooling, and calibrated equipment remain in serviceable condition and meet calibration requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety standards.
- Support aircraft recovery, AOG (Aircraft on Ground) events, customer support activities, and other operational requirements as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with FAA certification requirements and company policies.
Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
- Minimum of 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 2 years of rotorcraft/helicopter maintenance experience.
- Experience maintaining Leonardo AW139 helicopters is required.
- Thorough knowledge of FAA Part 145 Repair Station regulations and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, service bulletins, and FAA-approved technical data.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills on helicopter mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience directing and mentoring maintenance personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with AS9110 quality management systems preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRO software (such as Corridor) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined aircraft spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders, maintenance stands, and aircraft platforms.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to work safely in hangar and airport environments with exposure to varying temperatures, aircraft noise, and moving equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must provide personal aircraft maintenance tools, excluding specialized company tooling.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as operational needs require
