Position Overview
Working at our Mackenzie Base and reporting directly to our PG Regional Manager and Director of Operations, this is a full time position, that is available immediately. The successful candidate must be willing to reside (in own residence) in Mackenzie, BC.
Requirements
- Must have 600 hours minimum PIC helicopter time
- Must have completed an acceptable Mountain Course
- Must have exceptional organizational skills
- Must have good communication skills for both internal and external communications
- Valid driver’s license and abstract, valid medical and commercial pilot’s license
Responsibilities
- Responsible for client communication including booking flights from the Mackenzie Base, administrative duties regarding the daily operations of the Mackenzie Base, communicating schedule with OSC and other duties around maintaining the Mackenzie Base
- Responsible for supervising and directing work performed off Mackenzie Base, assisting and communicating with Prince George Base
- Responsible for tracking and reporting fuel tanks and caches in the Mackenzie area
- May be required to carry out other duties in and around the hangar (i.e. assist with maintenance, wash aircraft, sweep the hangar, etc.)
- Pilot is required to check the suitability of weather prior to each flight and to ensure facilities are available for flight following (i.e. company flight notification, or flight plan)
- Prior to each flight the pilot must ensure that the aircraft is ready to fly and is suitably-equipped for the mission (i.e. sling gear, water bucket, nets, etc.)
- Responsible to complete the daily inspection prior to each flight assignment
- Assist others to move the aircraft into the hangar or out of the hangar as required
- Responsible to clean the aircraft and conduct a pre-flight inspection (Daily Inspection or “DI”) of the aircraft after each day’s flight assignment and to secure the aircraft at the end of each day (i.e. tie-down, covers etc.)
- Meet and communicate with the customer each morning regarding the day’s flight assignments and may also be required to be formal customer liaison at other times
- May be required to drop crews in the field and return to camp or remain in the field with the crews between flights
- Complete paperwork after each day’s flying assignment including Journey Log entries, Flight Tickets, Crew Work Record, tracking paperwork, communicate with Engineer or with the Base with respect to anomalous operations and running aircraft times
- Carry out other duties assigned
