We are currently seeking a motivated and safety-focused Pilot I to join our aviation team. This is an exciting opportunity for an aviation professional who is passionate about flying and serving the community through meaningful public health work.
In this role, you will operate District aircraft in support of aerial mosquito control missions and other aviation activities essential to protecting public health and improving quality of life in Collier County. Responsibilities include conducting safe and efficient flight operations, assisting with mission preparation, maintaining accurate flight records, and supporting compliance with FAA regulations and District safety standards.

Brief Job Description
The Pilot I position is responsible for the safe operation of District aircraft as Pilot in Command while conducting aerial treatment missions in the Skyvan (SC-7), MD500D, and Bell407GXi aircraft.
The ideal candidate is an FAA Commercial Pilot with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Airplane Multi-Engine Land ratings and a preferred minimum of 1,500 hours of total flight time.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team focused on innovation and operational excellence. This position works closely with the Chief Pilot and is based on-site at the District’s aviation facility.
Minimum Qualifications
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine Land Rating
- FAA Instrument Rating
- FAA Class II Medical Certificate
- Valid Florida Class E Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn and operate internal programs
- Ability to read and understand chemical labeling instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Commercial Pilot with Rotorcraft-Helicopter and Airplane Multi-Engine Land ratings
- Experience with integrated pest management practices and mosquito control operations
- Certified in the State of Florida Public Health Pest Control and Aerial Pesticide Applicator License within six months of hire
