Gama Aviation is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer, based at Gloucester Airport, who will lead and oversee our Rotary Base Operations. This position is an integral part of the Company’s operational structure, responsible for oversight of all rotary Base maintenance maintained by Gama. Operating under applicable regulatory and Safety activities carried out in accordance with the companies MOE & Safety guidance. The role also includes “hands on” Base Maintenance oversight at the customers base maintenance facilities.
The position will also cover oversight of all rotary base activities, including the Glasgow facility. You will have a great deal of responsibility with endless opportunity for impact and freedom for initiatives.

/ Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all required maintenance is completed to the required standard, considering manpower planning and human limitations.
- Have a very good control of all maintenance, modification projects and other support activities throughout the facilities.
- Making regular contact with the Managing Director, Resource Planning manager and Engineering shift leads to discuss the work programme and future planned work to ensure adequate resources are made available.
- Ensuring that supported facilities remain in compliance with the MOE supplement and that any non-conformances raised are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that correct procedures are implemented for the security and safety of all aircraft in the base facilities under GAEL control.
- Oversight of facility GSE, with the assistance of the site GSE manager, to ensure they are kept serviced and calibrated.
- Strong relationship with the MRO Procurement manager and assigned team to have the required parts and consumables available for maintenance.
- Ensuring that all maintenance worksheets are completed and returned in good order to the MRO Technical Services team.
- Liaising with the applicable stake holders on aircraft utilisation and planned maintenance.
- Defining maintenance procedures in consultation with the Compliance Manager as necessary to comply with the requirement of the MOE, considering human factor limitations.
- Assessing and ensuring the competence of all, permanent & contracted, engineering staff involved in maintenance activities.
- Role to include oversight and acting as an inspector of customers rotary maintenance base inputs as Cat C or B1.
- Oversight of Pre-Planning of Maintenance Inputs for manpower and spares provisioning.
- Oversight of approval of new base and line facilities in support of rotary operations.
- Oversight / delivery of Specialist task training and subsequent approval i.e. Engine Ground run approval.
- Assisting and planning, with the Training Manager, the approval process for new engineers.
- Oversight and vetting of rotary engineers undergoing re-approval process.
- Day to day liaison with customer/CAM with respect to base and defect rectification, through planning team resources.
- Ensuring that customers’ expectations are met with regard to maintenance standards.
- Such other duties that may be from time to time delegated or approved by the Managing Director/Account Manager.
- Day to day KPI oversight with regard to maintenance functions in conjunction with the relevant account manager.
/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Essential
- Hold a CAA B1 licence with Cat C endorsement and applicable rotary series type rating (H145, H135, AW169, AW139)
- Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience of Rotary Base maintenance.
- Be conversant with the requirements of UK CAA regulations, MOE, H & S regulations
- Strong management background with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Self-starter with the right skills and attitude with a resourceful mindset
- A solutions-based style of management who gains respect through strong leadership.
