Are you an experienced Helicopter Hoist Operator and licensed engineer with a passion for safety and efficiency? Join our team to execute both scheduled and unscheduled Helicopter Hoist Operations (HHO) flights and crew change flights.
The helicopter Hoist Operator plays a critical role combining technical skills as a Licensed Line Engineer working on the helicopter and performing hoist flights hoisting passengers to the wind farms. Safety management and good communication play a crucial role.
You work in a small team of engineers, pilots and hoist operators following the helicopter to different operational locations. You report functionally to the Maintenance Lead who oversees the maintenance and hierarchically to the Base Manager in Esbjerg. You will follow the aircraft in bases in Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Belgium or any other European country the customer requests.
Responsibilities and Main Results Areas
Helicopter Hoist operator (HHO)
- Carry out HHO flight duties, in accordance with NHV Operations SOP's.
- Know the NHV procedures and the Flight Operations Manual.
- Inspect hoist systems, cables, hooks, harnesses, and safety equipment.
- Conduct safety briefings with passengers and flight crew.
- Coordinate passenger- and aircraft handling procedures before and after flights.
- Assist with the technical preparation for the flight(s).
- Operate hoist controls smoothly to raise/lower personnel or cargo.
- Provide precise directional guidance to the pilot (clearance, obstacles, positioning).
- Immediately halt operations if unsafe conditions arise.
- Use standardized aviation terminology.
- Leading by example and promoting a team spirit amongst colleagues.
- Respecting the code of conduct and overall behaviour towards the whole NHV team, as well as respecting the Drugs & Alcohol policy.
Line Maintenance
- Ensure that all maintenance tasks carried out to helicopters meet the standard of the BCAA/EASA and MOE instructions
- Work on aircraft and aircraft components as per Work Order, whilst respecting any restriction applicable.
- Ensure all safety regulations are followed
- Report any safety hazard and mandatory reportable occurrence via the NHV occurrence reporting system.
- Ensure correct following and performing of all maintenance instructions as detailed in the approved maintenance data and ensure correct following of all MOE procedures.
- Report if any procedure is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous.
- Record all performed maintenance in the work file and ensure all tasks are properly certified.
- Raise non-routine tasks or defect entries in the system for all unscheduled findings.
- Ensure Independent Inspections are performed on all safety critical tasks.
- Keep the workspace clean and tidy and keep the tools and equipment in good working order.
- Ensure, together with all engineers, a variable & flexible work planning & work roster based on business continuity.
- Ensure maintenance is completed before due and within the appropriate time limits to protect the operational needs.
- Ensure, in cooperation with NHV Supply Chain and support services that the necessary maintenance material & spare parts are present on site at the planned moment. Ensure, based on pilot & other relevant information, daily problem analysis & problem solving.
Skills and Experience
Experience
· Experience as a Helicopter Hoist Operator
· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a licensed engineer.
· Experience working in a line maintenance environment.
· Engineering experience in different aviation companies is a plus.
Skills
· Medical class 2 is required.
· Languages: English (minimum ICAO Level 4)
· EASA Part 66 B1.3 license or B2 license.
· Type rating H175 is preferred
· ICT literate (Rusada Envision knowledge is a plus)
· Good communicator:
- Debriefing with the flight crew
- Briefing of passengers
- Handover of work from/to previous/next shift
- Communication with the maintenance lead
· Able to work independently when performing in a less controlled environment and able to take initiative to improve work and complete tasks within appropriate timeframe.
· Problem solver / logic thinking.
