Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the primary responsibilities of the Chief Engineer will consist of, but are not limited to the following:
▪ To co-ordinate the maintenance, repair, replacement, modification, testing, inspection, overhaul and alteration of the Company aircraft and aeronautical products and to ensure that the required parts and services are available to carry out the scheduled and/or unscheduled maintenance.
▪ Ensure the esthetic appearance and commercial standards of the aircraft are being maintained.
▪ Productively and effectively develop, manage and maintain maintenance employee work schedules.
▪ Approve and assign vacation requests, in conjunction with HR Department’s support/knowledge.
▪ Evaluate personnel under their supervision for competency in carrying out their duties as described in the MPM.
▪ Removing aircraft from service. The responsibility is not only applicable to the airworthiness of the aircraft, but also its fitness for flight under the applicable operating rules, having regard to the safety of the aircraft, its occupants onboard, and persons or property on the ground.
▪ Will be the primary point of contact person for Flight Dispatch/Payload when determining daily, weekly, aircraft availability for charter flights, flight training, or other specific aircraft requirements.
▪ Will be fiscally accountable (jointly with the DOM & Procurement head) in substantiating the requirement of parts by approving the parts order requisitions before they are submitted to the Purchasing Department for procurement.
▪ Fulfill duties as alternate PRM/DOM when required, once approved by Transport Canada.
▪ Notify the Quality Assurance Manager immediately upon becoming aware of any quality control deficiencies or concerns.
▪ Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation, advancement (termination if required) of any/all Maintenance Department personnel that report directly to this position.
▪ Responsible for ensuring that the conduct of all the members of the Maintenance Department is in keeping with professional standards and Company expectations.
▪ Promote a safety culture throughout the Department by encouraging hazard and incident reporting via the Company’s Safety Management System.
Qualifications & Attributes
▪ Eligible to work in Canada; residency in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland required.
▪ Qualified to be Person Responsible for Maintenance under CAR 573.04.
▪ Quality Assurance training or equivalent experience preferred.
▪ Proven expertise in rotary and fixed-wing turbine aircraft maintenance.
▪ Strong leadership, coaching, and operational planning skills.
▪ Valid AME M1 or M2 license (Sikorsky S76 qualification preferred).
▪ Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
▪ Knowledge of organizational effectiveness, operations management, and aviation SMS.
▪ Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive initiatives.
▪ High ethical standards, professionalism, and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
▪ Strong interpersonal skills with collaborative management style.
▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
