We are seeking an experienced and respected aviation leader to provide operational leadership for a fleet of Bell 412 helicopters operating in support of Quebec’s provincial air ambulance program. This role is responsible for pilot oversight, standardization, training leadership, and day-to-day operational excellence within a demanding, safety-critical environment.
The successful candidate will act as the senior professional authority for flight crews, ensuring consistent operational standards, strong safety culture, and effective coordination with clinical partners and operational leadership.

- Lead, mentor, and support all pilots assigned to the Bell 412 air ambulance fleet
- Foster a strong safety culture built on professionalism, accountability, and teamwork
- Serve as the primary point of contact for pilot-related operational matters
- Ensure standardized operating practices across crews and bases
- Promote disciplined adherence to SOPs, flight profiles, and mission planning practices
- Participate in continuous improvement of operational procedures and crew effectiveness
- Oversee pilot training standards, recurrent training priorities, and line indoctrination
- Support simulator and aircraft-based training programs in coordination with training staff
- Identify skill gaps and proactively address competency or performance concerns
- Encourage effective CRM in a multi-crew, IFR, and medically integrated environment
- Participate in performance reviews, coaching, and professional development discussions
- Support fatigue risk awareness and sustainable crew scheduling practices
- Work closely with operations management, dispatch, maintenance, and clinical stakeholders
- Provide operational input into fleet utilization, staffing levels, and readiness planning
- Support incident reviews, safety reporting follow-up, and lessons-learned dissemination
Qualifications & Experience
- Airline Transport Pilot License (Helicopter) – ATPL(H)
- 2,500 flight hours as a turbine helicopter pilot, including 1,000 hours as pilot‑in‑command, of which 500 hours are on a medium‑category helicopter
- Instrument flight rating (Group 4) and two (2) years of experience in instrument flight operations;
- Night flight rating
- Advanced NVIS qualification, with a minimum of 50 flight hours using NVIS and NVG
- Category 1 medical certificate
- Extensive operational experience on medium twin-engine helicopters (Bell 412 strongly preferred with Bell 412 type rating )
- Strong background in EMS / air ambulance, IFR, and multi-crew operations
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior pilot, training, or fleet oversight role
- Respected professional judgement with the ability to lead by influence and example
- Excellent communication skills in operational and crew-facing environments
- Ability to work effectively in a bilingual (French/English) operational setting
- Authorization to work in Canada & travel to the USA for training
- Able to pass a Criminal Background Check related to access to Controlled Goods (NVGs)
