The Utah Department of Public Safety(DPS) is looking for an Aircraft Pilot. This individual will need to maneuver the aircraft safely and effectively while coordinating with crew and ground personnel for a variety of missions. These missions include but are not limited to: Law Enforcement support missions (including vehicle pursuits, warrant services aerial reconnaissance, marijuana eradication), search and rescue missions, and providing support for other state agencies. Pilot will be required to work closely with a crew member that will be a Law Enforcement officer where good Crew Resource Management is vital to accomplish the mission.
Principle Duties:
As an Aircraft Pilot, you will:
- Pilot or co-pilot a rotary wing aircraft
- Ensures proper aircraft maintenance and operational readiness
- Maintains accurate records and logs
- Conduct Law Enforcement Flights, Personnel Transport, Utility Flights
- Conducts Search and Rescue operations in coordination with County Sheriffs Departments
Minimum Qualifications & Preferences
In order to qualify, you must have:
- 2000 hours PIC in Helicopter
- 100 hours Nighttime
- 1500 hours Turbine Powered Aircraft
- Extensive Mountain Experience - evaluated on an individual basis
Preference may be given to applicants for the following experience
In order to qualify, you must have:
- Night Vision Goggle
- Long Line
- Astar 350/H 125 or any Variant
- Part 135
- CFI (Certified Instrument Instructor)
- Quantifiable CRM experience (working with a crew)
- Single and/or multi engine fixed wing aircraft certification
- Experience as a Law Enforcement Officer
Supplemental Information
- The incumbent will be required to reside within 50 miles from the Salt Lake Hanger (135 North 2400 West, Salt Lake City).
- Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, being subject to possible physical attack, etc.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- May be required to provide 24 hour on call services.
- Valid commercial helicopter pilots license with instrument rating
- Training Contract may be required
- Falsification of Pilot Logbooks or inability to show records may be a disqualifying
