For our team we are looking for a Ground Operations Manager who will be based in Malpensa area, Italy.
Duties and responsibilities:
He/she must develop and implement a cost effective and adequately trained personnel for ground operations. The Ground Operations Manager is appointed by the Accountable Manager. He/she must have thorough knowledge of the Company’s ground operations requirements. He/she reports to the Accountable Manager and to the Flight Operations Manager on supporting flight operations and safety issues. He/she is accepted by the Authority.
To ensure the functioning of the quality system within ground operations, the duties, responsibilities and functions are:
- Establish, maintain and conduct training programs which enable the ground personnel to safely and professionally conduct the ground handling and to act in the most appropriate manner to prevent acts of unlawful interference. If such act has occurred, the personnel shall be trained to minimize the consequences of it.
- Issue safety and security procedure for embarking/disembarking of passengers.
- Assure the correct stowing and transport process for the special loading, dangerous goods and weapons.
- Ensure that ground operations personnel are being kept up-to-date and properly instructed. They must be aware of their responsibilities and the relationship of such duties with the operation as a whole.
- Ensure that all legal emergency equipment required by regulations and the provisions of the AOC relating to ground operations are strictly observed in the operative bases.
- Ensure that all guidelines in the Operations Manual and all other pertinent legal requirements are met.
- Plan the initial training and perform the ground crew refreshment according to the training directives of the “Ground Crew Syllabus” and the Company’s internal procedures.
- Implement the training program for the ground crew, as well as mission related specific training.
- Plan, organize and control in cooperation with the Flight Operations Manager the approach, departure and missed approach path on the Company’s bases and landing spot.
- Notify local authorities and obtain the approvals required for landing and departure.
- Recruit the ground crew taking into account their capabilities and experience.
- Prepare the procedures and the SOP’s for the operations, amending the Route Manual.
- Assure coordination of the helicopters’ time schedules with the Flight Operations Manager.
- Ensure sufficient supplies of kerosene (JET A-1) are available at the site of operations.
- Ensure that all materials, tools and equipment needed for the project is readily available at the site of operation.
- Take part in the weekly coordination meetings.
- Cooperate in sales, enquiry process, order preparation, contact with customers.
- Verify the compliant, in coordination with the Flight Operation Manager, of the helideck/helipad (secondary base) based on the procedure reported in this document (OMA Chapter 8). Verify the safety of the operation on the operational sites.
- Assist the pilots in flight planning, and to be responsible for a regular analysis of operational performance, i.e. punctuality and regularity.
- Assure flow of information and report to the Compliance Monitoring Manager.
The Ground Operations Manager is holding responsibility for a well-organized and safe operation of Company aircraft. In co-operation with flight operations department and technical department, the jobholder is responsible to optimize aircraft operation for a cost/revenue ratio that is the basis for the economic success of Company.
Minimum requirements:
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience of which at least two (2) years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
- Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the applicable EU safety regulations and any associated requirements and procedures.
- Familiarity with management systems, preferably in the area of aviation.
- Appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organization.
- Computer literacy in MS Office.
- Language proficiency in Italian and English.
